The Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership is an initiative under the College of Business at the University of Central Florida. The CEL encourages students to learn about turning their ideas into businesses, by participating in various events held in Upstarts or the StarterSpace, or by receiving one-on-one coaching in the Blackstone LaunchPad. CEL sought to update their website to reflect their mission and promote these events. I served as their Web Designer during the year of 2018, and completed an entire website redesign.
There was a lack of visual consistency between the colors, fonts, and images on the site.
The navigation was confusing for users, and was not consistent across the entire site.
Written content as well as images were not updated and did not reflect current events or initiatives.
The branding guidelines for the CEL Website were based off the guidelines already created for the University of Central Florida. To maintain consistency with the UCF brand, the gold and black colors were used for accents and headings on the site. The Gotham font is prominently used in the UCF brand, and has many weight options for varying heading and text applications. The logo presented here is the wordmark for CEL.
I worked with the CEL directors to create a better navigation system and develop a list of content needed for each page with the appropriate copy. This ensured that the site had updated information as well as language that reflected their brand.
